Fine Art Expo in Istanbul

We are going to talk about our trip to Istanbul and specifically Kadıköy. Kadıköy, in general, is the place that I stayed in during my journey and it’s the place that I met artists and art galleries. This trip was for artistic purposes and to participate and to make an art exhibition there. This exhibition is in painting and sculpture. Our drawings are in oil, charcoal, and pencil in addition to some statues.

Istanbul’s strategic position along the historic Silk Road, rail networks to Europe and the Middle East, and the only sea route between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean have helped to foster an eclectic populace, although less so since the establishment of the Republic in 1923. Arts festivals were established at the end of the 20th century, while infrastructure improvements have produced a complex transportation network.

Istanbul hosted 11.6 million foreign visitors in 2012, making the city the world’s fifth-most-popular tourist destination. The city’s biggest draw remains its historic center which is around Sultanahmet Square, partially listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but its cultural and entertainment hub can be found across the city’s natural harbor, the Golden Horn (Haliç) and the Taksim area. I love Istanbul so much, because in Istanbul you can find the amazing mixing between east and west in the best form that you may see.

In Kadıköy we met a lot of artists and I visited a lot of art galleries and art universities in and outside Kadıköy. Turkish people are very kind people. The art movement in Istanbul is very active and powerful. They are always exciting to any new kind of art with no limits. After visiting more that one art galleries and decided to deal with Gallery Mod. I chose Gallery Mod for two reasons. The first reason is that a Turkish artist friend of mine recommended this gallery. The second reason is that they were very kind people and also they are doing also a kind of social event. I like so much to make the art useful in our life. In July 2015, Gallery Mod started to contribute to the culture and art scene of Istanbul as an artist workshop. The place, which initially existed as a personal space, was later opened to sharing and turned into an exhibition space with an amateur approach.

Aiming to create an art space alternative especially for young artists, Galeri Mod continues its sharing-based activities intensively in the last months of 2016. In addition to exhibiting, which is the main activity of Gallery Mod, the effort to become a cultural center continues with activities such as workshops and interviews. The venue, which opens its doors to the public for events such as at least ten separate exhibitions, interviews, and workshops per year, is actively using social media in order to make it easier for the artwork and the artist to meet with the audience. Located in Moda where the social life on the Anatolian side of Istanbul is maintained in the most dynamic way, Galeri Mod aims to be a center that contributes to the cultural and artistic life of the region and the city.

In conclusion, our trip to Turkey was full of learning, passion, experience, and art. This trip is one of the artistic experiences that we did before. We learned and we met a lot of nice and talented artists and my network grew up after this visit and I got more friends also. It was a very nice experience and when it’s possible, we will do it again.
